Swing for a Million – Tournament Rules & Guidelines

Welcome to Swing for a Million—a nationwide golf series giving everyday golfers a real shot at big-time competition and a chance at our $1 MILLION National Championship. Please review the following tournament rules carefully. All participants are expected to adhere to these standards to ensure a fair and competitive experience for all.


🔹 GENERAL FORMAT

  • Event Types:
     
    • Two-Player Scramble
       
    • Stroke Play (Individual)
       
  • Handicap-Based Scoring:
     
    • Two-Player Scramble: 50% of the team’s combined USGA Handicap Index
       
    • Stroke Play: 100% of verified individual USGA Handicap Index
       

🔹 PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be 18 years of age or older on the date of the event.
     
  • Must have an active and verifiable USGA Handicap Index.
     
  • Handicap Index must be maintained through a USGA-compliant system (e.g., GHIN, GolfNet, MyScorecard, Grint).
     
  • Players without a verified handicap may play but will be ineligible for advancement or prizes.
     

🔹 ADVANCEMENT STRUCTURE

  • Local Qualifier Events:
     
    • Top 3 net teams (Scramble) advance to the Divisional Qualifier.
       
  • Divisional Qualifier:
     
    • Top 10 players from each Divisional Qualifier advance to the Divisional Championship.
       
  • Divisional Championship:
     
    • The top 36 finishers in each series qualify for the National Championship.
       
  • National Championship:
     
    • 144 total players compete for a $1 Million Prize Purse.
       

🔹 TOURNAMENT CONDUCT

  • USGA Rules of Golf apply unless otherwise modified by local rules.
     
  • Range finders and GPS devices are allowed (slope features must be turned off during tournament play).
     
  • Mulligans are not permitted.
     
  • No gimmies—every putt must be holed.
     

🔹 SCORING & TIEBREAKERS

  • Live scoring via the Tournament app or scorecard submission is required.
     
  • Ties for advancement will be broken by scorecard playoff, starting from the #1 handicap hole and proceeding until a winner is determined.
     

🔹 WEATHER POLICY

  • In the event of inclement weather or course closure:
     
    • Tournament officials may shorten the round, delay play, or reschedule at their discretion.
       
    • A minimum of 9 holes must be completed for results to be considered official.
       

🔹 DRESS CODE & ETIQUETTE

  • Proper golf attire is required at all events (no denim, tank tops, or athletic shorts).
     
  • Players are expected to demonstrate integrity, respect for the game, and good pace of play.
     
  • Disruptive or unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disqualification.
     

🔹 PRIZES & PAYOUTS

  • Prize structure may vary by event. All prize money is based on net scoring.
     
  • Winnings will be distributed only to players with verified USGA Handicaps.
     
  • Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash value beyond what is advertised.

🔹 CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

  • No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the event.
     
  • Substitutions are allowed if the replacement player meets eligibility requirements.
     
  • If an event is canceled due to weather or course issues, a rescheduled date or refund will be offered.
     

🔹 CODE OF CONDUCT

By registering, all players agree to abide by the Swing for a Million code of conduct and rules of play. Players who violate the rules may be subject to disqualification, forfeiture of entry fees, or suspension from future events.
